BioMar has announced today the appointment of Keith Drynan as the new Commercial Director of their Grangemouth-based UK business. In his new role, he will lead the commercial team, comprising Sales and Business Development, Procurement, Formulation, and the Technical Department, as well as be part of the BioMar UK management team. In the announcement, the company states that this incorporation will allow the business “to strengthen customer relations and seize future opportunities to realise its strategic plans”.
A new perspective for an experienced professional
Rob Wilson, BioMar UK’s Business Unit Director, has noted Drynan’s extensive experience in the sector. “Keith brings a wealth of aquaculture industry experience and a proven track record with salmon and trout both in Scotland and Internationally”, he says, adding that “his strong skill set in building customer relationships and people development through coaching and team working will strengthen our company to deliver on our promises”.
Asked what this new challenge in his career means for him and how he is approaching it, Keith tells WeAreAquaculture: “As feed is a different part of the industry I am really looking forward to learning more about the science and processes, as well as bringing the people and business management skills which I have gathered and applying these to a new challenge”. Curious about the new perspective this position opens up for him, he adds that “having worked in aquaculture production it’s interesting to see feed from the suppliers point of view rather than as a customer”.
Looking for making a difference for the customers in the production of seafood
The new Commercial Director joins BioMar UK after five years with Hendrix Genetics. According to the announcement, there, “he oversaw the integration and development of the world’s leading trout breeding company enjoying financial success via a focus on product quality and new business development”. Before, Drynan was responsible for Troutlodge on the Isle of Man and held senior aquaculture roles across Scotland with Landcatch Ltd.
As for how he will strengthen customer relationships in search of new opportunities, Keith Drynan looks forward to the challenge. “BioMar has been pushing forward with sustainability initiatives, and I think are well positioned to make a difference in seafood production and the circular economy. I think this is a really important aspect and one which our customers can utilize to their advantage. I’m looking forward to ensuring that our customers have the latest developments available to them and are able to benefit from this in biology and the market”.

The company assures that, from his new position, Drynan “will focus on elevating customer service, product quality and delivering even more innovative and sustainable products to customers in the UK and export markets”. He will be assisted in this by his new team. A group of people about whom the new Commercial Director at BioMar UK says: “It takes time to understand each other’s drivers. After the initial period where clear lines of accountability have been established and good lines of communication have been opened, my expectation is that everyone will voice their concerns and that we can work on them in a positive way”.
